Travel Guide
The Aquarium of the Pacific is located in coastal Long Beach. The harbor is a beautiful setting for such an engaging aquarium. Penguins, sharks, sea lions, and lorikeets make it feel like more of a marine ecosystem zoo than just a habitat for fish. They also have a full marine animal hospital, where there is plenty to learn about taking care of our oceans and its inhabitants.
Parking can be sparse in the streets surrounding the aquarium, but they have a wonderful parking garage close by that is worth the money for both safety and convenience. While in the area, don’t forget to walk over to the harbor and enjoy the ocean views and lighthouse.
Also nearby is the Queen Mary, and a field trip to this grand ship can often be done on the same day as the aquarium, depending on how much time your students usually like to take at aquariums. The Aquarium of the Pacific can definitely fill a full day for those who are enthusiastic ocean lovers.
Outside food is not allowed, but they have a number of eateries on site. You can also choose to leave and eat at any of the restaurants located nearby. Speaking of food, don’t miss out on feeding the jellyfish or lorikeets. It’s a great add-on, and you can purchase food for the animals at the aquarium. Your students will never forget a trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific!
