The Academy of Science is nestled deep in San Francisco’s gorgeous Golden Gate Park. Always at the forefront of science, the Academy is a beautiful place to learn about all branches of science. They have some of the most incredible exhibits you’ll find anywhere in the country, including an amazing 90-foot tall eco-dome that houses an indoor rainforest!
They also have incredible aquariums, halls filled with animals from around the world, dinosaurs, geological wonders, a planetarium, and an earthquake simulation that is a must see! Definitely plan for a full day!
You can bring in outside food, and they have gardens with tables where you can comfortably eat your lunch. They also have a restaurant if you want to get food there. It’s pricey, but pretty tasty.
Parking can be an adventure. You’re welcome to find free parking on any of the surrounding streets, but it may take a while to find a spot and some areas are limited to only 4 hours of parking. For ease and safety, parking in their garage can be preferable and worth the extra money.
While you’re in the area, take a walk through lush Bay Area wilderness, rent paddle boats on Stow Lake, head west for a quick visit to the beach, or visit any of the other amazing museums you’ll find throughout the park. You won’t regret learning and playing in such a beautiful place!
